Periodontitis
is the most common problem of teeth. It is the outcome
from gingivitis development, containing infection
and inflammation of the bones and ligaments that hold
the teeth. Failure of support develops the teeth to
become fall out. In fact, it is caused, while infection
or inflammation of the gums is not treated.
The main purpose of periodontitis
treatment is to get rid of pockets and decrease
inflammation from the affected area. A large number
of people who are suffered from periodontitis can
be efficiently treated by making use of noninvasive
treatments.
If one has pockets between the teeth
and gums that are 5mm or less than 5mm in deepness,
one can be the best candidate for root planning
and scaling. In some cases, antibiotic treatment
is also used to reduce periodontitis. If one constantly
does good dental care at home, this perhaps the
only way to treat that one requires.
Scaling takes away bacteria and tartar
from the surface of the tooth and underneath the
gums. It can be done by making use of an ultrasonic
device or instruments. Root planning makes soft
the surfaces of tooth’s root, disappointing
more buildup of tartar.
As well as, a dental hygienists or
dentists suggest antibiotics or another medicines
to control the infection of bacteria. Advanced antibiotic
therapy may decrease the necessity for systemic
medicines that, besides the potential for negative
effects, enhance the possibility of antibiotic challenging
germs.
A few numbers of dental hygienists
may suggest antibiotic mouthwashes to decrease the
dental problem. Others may apply gels and place
threads into the area between the gums and teeth.
However more research is required, these dental
products show low levels of germs and may useful
to avoid future conditions associated to teeth.

| Endodontics (Root Canal)
|
|
|
| If your tooth's nerve chamber
becomes infected by decay, or damaged by trauma, root
canal treatment is often the only way to save your
tooth.
Inside the hard outer shell of each
tooth is a specialized area called the pulp or nerve
chamber. The pulp chamber contains a system of blood
vessels, lymph vessels and nerves, the pulp, which
enter from the bone through the root canals. This
system provides nourishment for the cells within
the tooth.
Deep tooth decay or other injury
can cause damage to or infection of the tooth pulp.
In a root canal or endodontic treatment, the dentist
removes the damaged or infected pulp and replaces
it with a special filler which helps maintain the
remaining tooth structure.
Some indications of the need for
root canal treatment may be:
- Spontaneous pain or throbbing
while biting.
- Sensitivity to hot and cold foods.
- Severe decay or an injury
that creates an abscess (infection) in the bone.

Common Dental Problems
|
|
Tooth decay: dental
caries
Tooth decay is one of the major dental problems occurring
at all age groups, majorly due to negligence on the maintenance
front. Bacteria in the mouth feed on the residual foodstuffs
and generate acid, which in turn eats up the tooth substance,
eventually presenting as a brown/black cavity, along with
sensitivity or pain.
Loose
or shaky teeth
This is a manifestation of disease of the gums and the surrounding
tissues.
Missing
teeth
Loss of teeth due to decay or gum diseases or trauma poses
a functional problem causing ineffectiveness in chewing
food and compromised general health.
Yellowish or unclean stained teeth
These are a result of improper oral hygiene maintenance
and bad habits like tobacco, pan chewing, and smoking.
Over a period of time clay like substance called calculus
gets deposited on the surfaces that cannot be removed by
brushing.

Oral Hygiene /Maintenance
|
|
Meticulous oral hygiene
maintenance is necessary for overall maintenance of dental
health. It implies effective removal of "dental plaque".
Dental plaque is an invisible soft gelatinous film containing
a lot of bacteria that forms on the surfaces of the teeth.
Brush twice daily, floss once daily.
Any soft or medium toothbrush with a pea-sized amount of
fluoridated toothpaste should be used.
Flossing helps to clean in between teeth where a brush cannot
reach.
Visit your dentist for regular check ups.
Your dentist will advise you about any additional cleaning
methods (eg. interdental brushing, use of medicated oral
rinses) you may need.

Treatment Options We Provide
|
|
|
| Direct |
| Silver Amalgam filling |
Adequate strength, time
tested material used over
the years with predictably good results.
|
Unaesthetic as not tooth
colored, does not bond to tooth
structure, requires removal of more tooth structure for
retention.
|
| Glass Ionomer filling |
Bonds to the tooth
structure, requires less tooth structure to be removed,
releases fluoride hence helps prevent recurrent decay, relatively
aesthetic.
|
Low strength, hence cannot
be used in load bearing areas and in big cavities. |
| Composites |
Bonds to the tooth structure,
exact shade matching to achieve good esthetics possible, conservative. |
Technique sensitive, time consuming,
Sensitivity. |
